Reviews of The Saddleworth Hotel

Had beautifully presented room with a huge mirror and a rubbish leather sofa for a splendid stay. It met what was needed.

The location was AMAZING in the "lounge area" and the staff here was exceptionally attentive and affable. It was also next to the centre of said car park spheres reminiscent of `` The Prisoner '' which as light fell were illuminated as well as Sheffield.

I was on a business trip and stayed at The Saddleworth in Diggle for a few nights. The hotel's decor was stunning and exceeded expectations from the pictures online. The staff, especially Danny, were exceptional and provided excellent service. The phone call before arrival to reserve a table was a thoughtful touch. The location offered beautiful views across the valley, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. I couldn't finish the delicious breakfast. I can't wait to return with my family.
Highly recommend this hotel!

The hotel was the best I have ever stayed in, there was nothing at all I could fault about the break. The staff were absolutely amazing and the luxury style and boutique feel is the perfect place to just chill out and enjoy every second of it. We will deffinately be back for another romantic trip to the lap of luxury in the beautiful hills.

I was attending a family dinner at the hotel and so convenience was a key factor to my stay. The decor, the main dining hall and pleasantness of staff. The setting was also very attractive with great views of the Saddleworth Moors. My single occupancy turned out to be a double suite in the Coach House which was very well designed and furnished. Being across a gravelled courtyard and concerned about walking in my evening wear I was provided with a golf buggy ride to and from the Coach House.
There was no tea making facility in the room but you could request if from reception. There was only a shower in the ensuite but no shower cap. Both have been standard issue in quality hotels I have stayed in. The breakfast was the strangest arrangement I had ever experienced. . In the dining room you went to a bar top hosted by the manager to select from a range of cold continental breakfast items in bowls and baskets, not a cold fridge or covered plates. Hot tea and coffee was made there for you and bacon baps where ordered and brought from the kitchen. There was no menu or guidance how you obtained your breakfast you just followed others. There was a problem with room keys opening the room on my departure. The management knew about the problem but did nothing to avoid inconvenience to customers. We all had to individually go back to reception to get our keys activated. Rather a trek for those of us in the Coach House.

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the surrounding attractions, with rooms situated on the upper floor.

The distinctive character of an independently owned and run hotel, the friendliness of the owners and family and the very good food.
The inflexibility of the taps in the basin and shower in the bedroom; I understand the good reasons for what has been done but it still is less than convenient.

The hotel is set within stunning grounds, offering beautiful views to enjoy. the staff are friendly and efficient, providing a high level of service to ensure guests have a pleasant stay. the rooms are comfortable, with a good choice of family rooms available. the breakfast is fresh and of good quality, with a self-service style that allows guests to have a relaxed dining experience.
Some guests have reported rude and unprofessional staff, which can be disappointing for those expecting a higher level of service.

The location in the lounge area was stunning and wonderful, I really enjoyed my stay and would love to come back to this area again.

The room didn't have air-con and the windows wouldn't open resulting in a really hot room. When I'm paying so much I don't expect my bath room to have press button taps that time out. Same goes for the shower, I don't care what eco pretensions you've got. There were no tea/coffee facilities and there wasn't to a telephone meaning you have to cross the car park to contact reception. At the bar the soft drinks were expensive (£3 for half of Coke), it was cheaper to drink. Generally a disappointing stay.

The view
This must be the worst value hotel in the UK. Unbelievably overpriced for what was offered - poor breakfast, no restaurant open in the evening, no shampoo in room, no shower cap, a very annoying time controlled washbasin tap, no DVD player despite booking information saying one was in the room, no tea/coffee making facilities, no robes, tiny towels, no telephone so a long walk across the car park if you wanted to contact reception, stained pillowcases, musty smell in room and overpowering plug in air freshners elsewhere in hotel. A very disappointing experience.
